These small berries are tart, firm, and deeply fruity. Black currants have thick skin that resists bursting when handled and shipped. High natural citric acid imparts and intensely sour flavor while the jammy pulp has a dark fruit taste similar to Concord grapes or dark cherries.

Our farmers grow American black currants (Ribes americanum), which has a similar taste and texture to European and Asian varieties, but is well-adapted to our climate.

Applications:

  • Jams, jellies, and preserves
  • Syrups
  • Cordials and liqueurs
